A breast lump is a localized swelling, protuberance, bulge, or bump in the breast that feels different from the breast tissue around it or the breast tissue in the same area of the other breast. There is a wrong notion in most people's mind that all breast lump are cancerous. Breast lump can be because of cancer, fibroadenoma, infection or cyst.

After few investigations like Mammography, USG Breast, FNAC or Biopsy it can evaluated whether it is cancer tumour or not. Breast lumps can be Benign or Malignant. If breast lumps are non cancerous or non painful than it can remain there throughout life without any problem but if it is big lump normally doctor would advise you to get it removed surgically. After surgery the breast reconstruction can be done for cosmetic purposes.

Breast Reconstruction after Breast Cancer Surgery
At GNH Hospital you can consult Dr. Sumita Singh between 2-4 pm everyday from Monday - Saturday by prior appointment. After consultation and physical examination if you require the investigations they can all be done at GNH Hospital within 1-2 days. Once the results of the test are available the surgery is planned. The patient gets admitted to the hospital a night before the surgery. Most of the patients get discharged 3-4 days after the surgery. A followup with Dr. Sumita is needed 5-7 days after discharge
Description of Breast Surgeries
A lumpectomy can be done in case of a non cancerous lump in breast as well as in case of cancerous lump. In case of non cancerous lump the surgeon removes the lump only. In case of cancerous lump surgeon removes the cancerous tumor along with a rim of potentially healthy tissue around it (known as the margins) without removing the entire breast. Lymph Node Removal & Lymphedema
In addition to your surgical procedure, your doctor may wish to remove and examine lymph nodes to determine whether the cancer has spread and to what extent. If the surgery involves removal of the breast and also the axillary nodes then the surgery is called Radical Mastectomy and the cost ranges between 120-150 thousand Indian Rupees
This is plastic surgery to rebuild the shape of the breast. It may be done at the same time as the cancer surgery or later.
